Dr Adarsh Kumar Agnihotri

Pharmacognosy, medicinal plants, standardization and quality evaluation of herbal drugs/products, new product development for rural industrialization and scientific interventions for Rural Industries. Dr. A. K. Agnihotri, Deputy Director is heading Bio-processing and Herbal Division. The team is working mainly in the themes of Agri inputs (production of Bio fertilizers and Bio pesticides), Food Processing, Panchgavya and Herbal products. The division is dedicated towards the development of new technologies / innovative products; provide S & T support to existing industries as well as creation of new entrepreneur in rural areas with special reference to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises/Industries (SME’s); provide technical consultancy; organize training programmes for dissemination of innovative products and technologies developed by the division.

Dr. A K Agnihotri is a multidisciplinary scientist having over 25 years experience. He has carried out original research in Pharmacognosy, Medicinal plants, Ethnobiology and Natural Products etc. He has published over 25 original research papers in peer reviewed National and International journals, published 40 monographs in Ayurvedic Pharmocopoea of India, Published by Min. of AYUSH Govt. of India and 30 monographs on medicinal plants published in “Development of standards of selected therapeutically important medicinal plant of India and preparation of monograph there off” by ICMR, Govt. of India & more than 20 paper presented in Seminar/Symposia/Conferences out of which 24 papers were published in proceedings of scientific seminars/symposia. Published a book chapter with prestigious publisher Springer, Singapore. 03 Popular articles based on Ayurveda have been published for general readership in Hindi magazines. 05 international patents and 03 Indian patents have been awarded to him and 03 patents filed for IPR in India are in the order to grant. He has developed around 30 Innovative Products / Technologies. He has been selected as Fellow of Society of Ethnobotanists (FES) by Society of Ethnobotanists, Lucknow in the year 2005. Presently he is looking after Development of new technologies / products; provide S & T support and development of new entrepreneur in rural areas, Industrial Technical Consultancy, Training and Dissemination of technologies developed by the Division. Supervised many short term dissertations for students of master degree course in Science, Modern Medicine, Ayurveda and Pharmaceutical sciences. Prior to the present assignment during 1999-2005 he was associated with CSIR- National Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow as a Researcher. From 2005-2009 he was associated with Organic India Pvt. Ltd. Lucknow as Scientist, Research and Development (R&D) Division of the organization.

Dr. Agnihotri is associated with various national and international societies like Indian Society of Pharmacognosy, Society of Ethnobotanist, International society For Herbal Medicine and Vigyan Bhartee etc.

• He has recognized as research supervisor (Botany) of S. G. B. Amrawati University, (Maharashtra) for Ph. D. degree.
• Recognized as reviewer of Indian Journal of Natural Products and Resources (IJNPR) [Formerly Natural Product Radiance (NPR)].
• Recognized as reviewer of innovation projects of “NRDC Meritorious Invention Awards” in different categories viz. for “Budding Innovators Award of the Year”; “Innovation Award of the Year” and “Societal Innovation Award of the Year”.
• Appointed as Examiner of Ph. D. Degree for Botany in RTM Nagpur University, Nagpur and Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad (M.S.).
• He has Nominated as member of Board of Studies in “Ras Shastra” of Mahatma Gandhi Ayurved college, Hospital and Research centre (MGACHRC), Sawangi (Meghe), Wardha.
• Nominated as member of Board of Studies Botany Dept. J.B. Collage Science, under RTM Nagpur University.
• Nominated as member of advisory committee for Star College Scheme of Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India for J B College of Science, Wardha.
